UOA estimates that it takes US$0.55 per day to administer, manage, and provide all the services to an orphan within a family setting ($200.75 a year). The bulk of the resources are the people themselves who contribute 65 percent of the resources including care, board and room, free labor, skills, and knowledge. Secondly, the organization depends on the supply of local materials such as land, wood, grass, and space for meetings, etc. UOA-T members contribute a token annual fee at the household level. However, the local resources are not sufficient, and as such, UOA has to solicit for external help to supplement the efforts of the kinship groups and the communities to meet the needs of the children under their care.

Needed are the remaining 35 – 40 percent of the resources that are critical to the life of the program; these resources are beyond the capability of the kinship / the extended family. They are necessary to supplement the efforts of the kinship groups. They include finances and hard ware such as means of transportation, various office and training equipment and implements and building materials. UOA needs and has benefited from foreign human resources.
